Are eye bags getting in the way of how you want to be seen?

Under-eye bags and dark circles are nuisances that are often the first signs that you are getting older. Dr. Kotlus’ first step towards correction of eye bags in his NYC office is identifying the underlying causes. Then, he offers a targeted, customized surgical or non-surgical eye bags treatment plan that is effective for your specific needs.

Non-Surgical Eye Bags Treatments

Under-eye hollows (sometimes called the tear-trough) can cause you to look like you have dark circles, shadows, and eye bags.

Non-surgical eye bag correction is accomplished with filler injections that add volume to lift sunken areas under the eyes. Hyaluronic acid fillers (e.g. Restylane, Belotero) are expertly placed using a fine needle or a cannula (cannula eye lift). Downtime is minimal and results usually last a year or more. Topical anti-pigment creams, anti-wrinkle creams, lasers, and concealers are also used to reduce under-eye dark circles without surgery.

Dr. Kotlus is one of few oculoplastic experts in NYC that has years of experience with cannula filling of the tear trough (under eye hollows).

Surgical Options for Eye Bags

A lower eyelid lift is a surgery that serves as a long-term solution for eye bags. It can involve eyelid fat removal or repositioning, fat injections, skin removal and muscle tightening.  Dr. Kotlus follows fat-preservation principles (including fat repositioning and fat grafting) to avoid a sunken, hollow appearance after surgery.

Incisions are hidden either behind the eyelid (transconjunctival blepharoplasty) or under the eyelashes.  Recovery tends to be relatively painless with and end goal of achieving a smoother and more youthful lower eyelid shape.
